Class Visits

Hi everyone,

At this week's teacher meeting we talked a bit about class visits, and what they mean for the instructor and the class. For those of you who weren't there, here's a rundown:

Students respond positively when they know there's more than one person at Kaplan looking out for them. When they get asked "Would you recommend Kaplan to a friend?", we want them to think about all the people they've meet at Kaplan, not just their teacher. So from now on we'll be conducting class visits. A full-time staff member will stop by your class, sometime in the first half of the course, for 5-10 minutes to introduce him/herself and chat with the class for a bit. This way students get to see another friendly face and don't feel like it's just their teacher looking out for them.

We will do our best to let you know about these visits in advance, and to make them as unintrusive as possible. Please let us know if your students have any feedback about the class visit, good or bad!

One final note: Class visits do not take the place of observations! New teachers, and teachers who haven't been observed in a while, will still be observed within the first 3 teaching sessions of their course. The visit and the observation may occur on the same day or different days.

If anyone has any questions, you know what to do!
